Is This You
Want an additional nationality without relocating full-time
Are considering a contribution-based programme starting from USD 90,000
Want to include eligible family members in your application
Have business, family or travel interest in the Lusophone (Portuguese-speaking) world
Want legal coordination from the initial assessment through to document delivery
The Programme
A government-administered pathway through a contribution to the National Transformation Fund.
The programme leads to São Tomé and Príncipe citizenship following approval, contribution and completion of the required formalities. Its legal basis is Nationality Law 07/2022 and Decree-Law 07/2025.
The programme does not require physical residence or relocation before or after the application. Clients can assess an additional nationality while continuing their existing personal and business arrangements abroad.
Eligible relatives can be included. Citizenship may be passed to future generations under national law. São Tomé and Príncipe permits dual citizenship; the rules of your existing nationality must also be reviewed.
The contribution supports national development through the National Transformation Fund. It is non-refundable and does not purchase fund units, create an investment portfolio or provide a financial return.

Entrepreneurs and internationally active professionals seeking an additional nationality without a mandatory move.
Clients who want an additional citizenship for long-term family planning and can fund a non-refundable contribution.
Individuals and families assessing contribution-based citizenship options from USD 90,000 plus fees.
Clients with business, family or relocation plans involving Portuguese-speaking countries. São Tomé and Príncipe’s CPLP membership can inform planning, with a separate legal assessment of the destination country.
Mobility and the CPLP Connection
The value of a second nationality depends on where and how you intend to use it.
A São Tomé and Príncipe passport may facilitate travel to certain destinations. Entry rules, visa requirements, permitted stay and purpose of travel must be checked against the destination’s official rules before making a decision.
São Tomé and Príncipe is a CPLP member. Its citizenship may be relevant to residence, work or study routes in Portuguese-speaking countries. Eligibility, visa requirements and treatment of recently naturalised citizens require individual review.
If you are also considering a Portuguese visa or Golden Visa, we assess whether an additional nationality has a concrete legal purpose. Portuguese nationality eligibility and timelines require separate legal confirmation.
This programme grants São Tomé and Príncipe citizenship. It does not itself confer Portuguese or EU citizenship, a Portuguese residence permit, or an automatic right to live or work in the Schengen Area.

The Application Journey
BBA coordinates the legal work; authorised programme channels handle submission and official processing.
Review objectives, existing nationalities, family relationships, background and the documented origin of funds.
Identify the licensed Marketing Agent, agree the scope and budget, and confirm the current requirements for each applicant.
Coordinate identity, civil-status, police and financial documents. The authorised agent submits to the Citizenship Unit for review.
Following approval in principle, complete the required fund contribution and outstanding official charges through the approved payment process.
Coordinate follow-up on citizenship documentation, national ID and passport issuance, and consider any separate next-stage legal planning.
Current official guidance: approximately 2 months to decision, then approximately 3 to 4 months from approval to passport. Allow for document preparation and case-specific delays. Sources: cip.gov.st and /application-process.
